Turning 60 Never Looked So Good!
JILDOR SHOES CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF STYLE WITH EXCLUSIVE "MEET THE DESIGNER" EVENTS FEATURING STUART WEITZMAN
Turning 60 Never Looked So Good!
NEW YORK, NY, October 2, 2009 – The average cost of a new home was $7,450. Gasoline was 17 cents a gallon. The first Volkswagen Beetle was sold in the United States, and Billy Joel was born on Long Island. The year was 1949 and it also marked the birth of Jildor Shoes. Today, Jildor Shoes proudly celebrates its 60th Anniversary of legendary quality and customer service with an exclusive "Meet the Designer" series beginning with Stuart Weitzman.
"It is truly a testament to not only our talented team, but our lasting relationships with vendors such as Stuart Weitzman that we are celebrating our 60th anniversary. We do not only consider him a business partner, but a true friend as well," says Larry Bienenfeld. "Stuart is a genius in the shoe industry and we look forward to continuing this amazing relationship for years to come." The festivities will kick off on October 2nd with Stuart Weitzman at the first event in the Cedarhurst Store, 473 Central Avenue, Long Island from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Mr. Weitzman will showcase next season's hottest designs and sign shoes for well-heeled guests. The first 60 customers will also receive reusable autographed bags. From 3 – 3:30, the celebration will stream live at Jildor.com as Melissa Foss, Style Editor for AOL/Styleist.com, hosts a live webcast where participants can learn about fashion trends for women and ask questions. Foss is known to millions as the former Senior Editor at Harper's Bazaar as well as a contributor to Today, The Tyra Banks Show, Rachael Ray, and E!
The relationship between Jildor Shoes and Stuart Weitzman dates back to the very beginning – six decades ago – when Jildor carried Seymour Weitzman's (Stuart's father) eponymous Mr. Seymour shoes. The tradition was passed down from father to son when Stuart Weitzman's collections were launched and have been carried by Jildor from day one.
When Jildor Shoes celebrated its 50th anniversary back in 1999, the special relationship between Jildor's late great founder, Jack Bienenfeld, and Weitzman was apparent. Mr. Weitzman wrote, "How proud my father would have been. You were the first customer of his Mr. Seymour Shoes on Long Island, which I suppose makes you my first customer as well. We independents are surrounded by giants, yet it is the retailer like Jildor that offers our customers the services and attention to detail and fit, and is the inspiration for my design. Congratulations!"
