Working the Red Carpet at the Oscars

Old school stars and newbies graced the red carpet of Kodak Theater in Hollywood for the 2010 Oscars. But, how did the stars fare in the fashion department? Sandra Bullock's dress was a beaded Marchesa gown, but it looked more like a wedding dress with the long train--she looked gorgeous, but what shoes was she wearing? She probably got more compliments on her big win, rather than her outfit for the evening.

British Actress Carey Mulligan wore chandelier earrings, a black clutch and a stunning beaded Prada gown with an asymmetrical hem that revealed her uber cute shoes that looked a lot like Diane Von Furstenberg Opal platform sandals in black leather--the girl's got style!

Vera Farmiga was up for a Best Supporting Actress nomination, but what was up with her berry-colored, pleated Marchesa gown? She looked more like she was a centerpiece on the table at an after-Oscar party. And we can just imagine what shoes she was sporting under that get-up.

Tiny Fey went for the faux leopard look with her single-shoulder Michael Kors gown. This 30 Rock actress pulled off this dress and made it look tres stylish. And with a dress like that you have to go for simple with your shoes. Although her gown was long and covered her feet, we're pretty sure she could have been sashaying down the red carpet Pelle Moda's Colette evening sandals in black satin with a 3 ¾ heel, black jet stone detailing and interlocking suede loops.

The 2010 Oscars seemed more about fashion violations than hits. Check out more of the garish fashions on the EOnline: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/redcarpet/2010_oscars/index.html

It’s a Family Affair for Vanessa Hudgens

Los Angeles (AKA La La Land) is home of the stars and stars like to go out to eat. Disney High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens grabbed a bite to eat this past Tuesday at Aroma Café with her mother and sister, Stella. Aroma is known for their cozy environment, coffee and out of this world bakery items. The Hudgens family was definitely casual with Vanessa sporting a zipped up black hoodie, some very bell-bottomy pink terrycloth pants, a huge black leather purse, giant black sunglasses, her Mac laptop and what appeared to be white flip flops that looked strangely like Havaianas Sandals' Top Crystal White Rubber Thongs.

Her pants were so long and covered most of the shoe. She would have been way better off in something like the Juicy Couture Georgia Flip Flop in black.

The height along with the color would have matched her hoody would have made her look more put together.

Her mother and sister Stella were also slumming it that day.

Her sister appeared to be wearing Ugg® Classic Tall Boot in chestnut.

It looks like they had a great meal and were about to go their separate ways--mom and sis going shopping and Vanessa off to return emails or do some research for her next role. Such a Hollywood ending! For more photos of the event, go to Just Jared at: http://justjared.buzznet.com/2010/03/02/vanessa-hudgens-aroma-cafe-cutie/

Alice in Wonderland Premiers in London

March 5th is the long awaited day for all of us fans of Tim Burton and Alice in Wonderland--Alice in Wonderland 3D will be out. But before the movie hits the theaters, there are the premiers. And last week, the stars sailed across the pond for a London premier with all the funds going to charity. The movie has an all-star cast with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Mia Wasikowska is Alice and Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen in Tim Burton's psychadelic adventure based on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

Anne Hathaway, who plays the White Queen, looked amazing in her taupe sequined sleeveless gown and glamorous platforms--she definitely stole the show and flashbulbs of the paparazzi.

The sexy platforms looked a lot like Steve Madden's Quantumm in bronze leather--it's obvious that Ms. Hathaway likes to look hot and be comfortable--good show. Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Burton) had on a crazy get-up that we can't quite comprehend what she was trying to accomplish. A lot of bad attention? And it was a Vivienne Westwood dress--shockingly! Viv can even make the Queen Mum look stylish, so this dress is quite a mystery!

At least, she chose some simple platform heels in a bone/ivory color. I do think she should have chosen a black heel that brought out the black in the sleeves of her gown. Maybe something like Steven by Steve Madden's Fantacy black suede pump

or Michael Kors' Cedar pump in black kid leather with crisscrossing detail and laces that would have tied up her calves for a more romantic look.

This girl just can't seem to get it right.

Johnny Depp looked dashing as always in all black--pants, vest, dress shoes and jacket--and a white button-up shirt with no tie. This guy is so James Bond and a geek (with his black horn rimmed spectacles) at the same time. No matter how old he gets, he's always hot. And he signed autographs for the fans for two hours in the rain--such a sport!
Overall the night was a smashing success and the movie was well received. I can't wait to go see it this Friday! For more photos of the event, go to the Herald Dispatch at:

The Spice Girls Are Still Rock’s Rebels

Some members of the Spice Girls have still got it. Melanie Brown and her adorable little daughter have matching punk dos--Mel's got the side of her head shaved and her daughter has a Mohawk. Despite the dos, Mel can be sporty and chic at the same time. By pairing tight-fitting black pants and a bright blue tee with what looks like Camilla Skovgaard's S10018 double-buckled stiletto sandal in black leather, she is definitely taking Los Angeles by storm and no longer the Scary Spice chick.

Cruz Beckham, Victoria Beckham's youngest son celebrated his fifth birthday at a karate studio in the San Fernando Valley with a gaggle of celebrities and their kids including Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale and their tots. And while her son dressed a Transformer, Posh Spice had to be well posh and had it (but just a little too much in this case). This woman never dresses down and went for the huge signature round sunglasses, black tee and jacket, tight bright aqua pants and of course, killer heels. I have to admit, it would be very human of her to not dress up so much all the time. Victoria could have gone for a more casual shoe like Tory Burch's Antonia with a short heel and aqua stone in brown leather.

It would even be a pleasure to see her in a high-heel flip flop like Juicy Couture's Georgia--it would be still be designer, yet way less over the top for a birthday at a karate studio.

Somehow, I get the feeling she goes grocery shopping in pink Chanel suits.

The Kardashians Take Over Fashion Week

Hot designer brand Bebe has teamed up with the Kardashian sisters, Courtney, Kim and Chloe, for a new line called the Kardashian-Bebe Collection. This week, the line made its debut during Fashion Week. The collaboration has resulted in their fans being able to dress like their favorite divas. There were very edgy pieces and other pieces are very comfortable. And it's all very affordable, shockingly, since the Kardashians like to live the high life. You can look just like a Kardashian, at a quarter of the price. The collection hit the stores last week and has apparently almost all sold out. It rumored the girls will be launching their own jewelry line in April. Kim was the only sister to make the big event in NYC and she sported a leather corset-like top over a hooded grey cotton dress that was stunning. She graced the catwalk like a true professional and paired the outfit with short, black leather gloves and simple, yet stylish, black pumps that looked a lot like Pelle Moda's Wrigley in black patent leather.

Since this is a Spring line, we think she should have worn something more like Bettye Muller's Katy Espadrilles in black fabric --they're not only smart and stylish but very comfortable to walk the catwalk or long shopping trips (which the Kardashian girls know too well).

It's a new twist on a fashion favorite. To view more photos and a video of the Bebe-Kardashian show, go to Amy Grindhouse's site

Speidi Celebrates Their Love in Vegas

Love is in the air for America's Sweethearts, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. The couple known as Speidi headed to Las Vegas for a special Valentine's Day getaway. Of course, this was a prime photo opportunity for them and they took advantage of it to the fullest. After they got off the private jet, they had a fancy dinner and headed to Club Pure in Ceasar's Palace. They got their groove on and Heidi tried to get the DJ to play a track from her recently released album. And the couple, headed up to their suite decorated for Heidi by Fredrick's of Hollywood. How many girls get a V-Day quite like this?! And what would be the most fitting color to wear? Red, of course! Heidi wore a very sexy strapless, red dress with some slinky, black stilettos that looked really uncomfortable. From the photos of her standing, it looked like she could barely stand and/or balance herself. If only she would have gone with a lower and more substantial shoe like Steve Madden's Goldwyn in black satin.

This shoe is not only hot, but it's very girly with black satin roses. And with a 3-inch heel, you can dance the night away in comfort. Plus, they're very classy--something we're not sure Heidi knows anything about. For more photos of this night to remember, go to Yahoo's OMG

STARS & THEIR PETS

STARS & THEIR PETS As shocking as it seems, stars do normal stuff just like us regular people do. They pump gas, go grocery shopping and hang out with their furry friends. Dogs and stars go together like peanut butter and jelly. Kelly Osbourne and her little black dog Pomeranian, Sid, look charming together%u214although the little guy looks like a bat. Plus, he's so little that he needs to be carried rather than walked. Teri Hatcher and her cockapoo esque dog look perfect together. She's got him trained to go shopping.

Miley Cyrus has three dogs and needs her dad's help to get them corralled. You can see them in Toluca Lake (a suburb in The Valley in California) walking them on a regular basis.

And every now and again you can catch Mischa Barton bundled up in a heavy black coat walking her Pomeranian in New York's East Village. But more important than their pets is their footwear they need to be stylish and comfortable. When they're not kicking it in their Converse low tops , it's all about boots. Teri Hatcher has been photographed many times walking her dog in Frye boots . But more often then not, it's the Ugg ™ either the classic short sherling or something a little more daring like the Lo Pro Button Boyfriend in denim . And even their kids are sporting Ugg ™ as they tag along with their moms . For more photos of stars and their pets, go here:

Valentine Gifts Your Sole Mate Will Love

valentine's day gifts

Credits: Sister72

Buying shoes is about finding the perfect balance between style and class. Somewhere in there should be practicality as well, but that one always seems to take a backseat. Shoes will make or break your outfit whether you're walking down the sidewalk or into your office. Valentine's Day is the perfect reason to buy her something special. Women know when you've taken the extra time to pick out something meaningful. They can see right through the candy, flowers, and cards. While they're a nice and simple gesture, why not shower her with something she really loves? Shoes! This year get creative and thoughtful. Make her really smile, gentlemen.

Dinner dates with her

Get her the perfect pair of shoes for an elegant dinner date and paint the town red together. The crimson patent pump by Marc Jacob is sure to make her day unforgettable. If your plans are a little extravagant, Vaneli, who offers exclusive styles for Jildor, has a similar style for a fraction of the price. Either of these choices will keep her feeling beautiful and looking forward to many more years of future Valentine's Days with you. If there is one thing women love, it's shoes. Men that buy shoes for them are even better.

Ideas for her on Valentines

Great ideas for gifts don't need to be difficult. Shoes are something she will always need and will forever want. If something in red seems a little too flashy, black or brown are always excellent color staples. A medium heel or unique looking flat is great for any wardrobe. A fancy stiletto for the fashion savvy is always sure to please. Stuart Weitzman understands the need for an exquisite shoe, and his evening wear pumps will have you red carpet ready for any occasion.

For an especially romantic evening, a new pair of heels to wear to an intimate dinner date is perfect. It will be difficult not to feel like royalty standing tall in these shoes.

Business and Valentines

Business women have a name to make for themselves both in and out of the office. Whether she's doing research or meeting clients, having the best pair of shoes is a must. daniBlack Tessa in black suede are great for women on the go. Even liven up an outfit during your after work night out for coffee or drinks. Classic black with a modestly thick heel let you decide how to work this versatile shoe.

Boots for her?

Something about boots make them event specific. How about Valentine's Day boots? A pair from Lucky Brand or Steve Madden is sure to make her day extra memorable. For something totally cozy, Ugg® boots will keep her warm when you can't. She will be thinking of you whether she's out with the girls or warming up by the fireplace.

When it comes to the best Valentine's Day gift for her, shoes are all she needs. Your time spent selecting the perfect pair will show her how much you really care. She will be reminded of that "wow" factor every time she wears them, and will always have you in mind. Elegance and a thoughtful gift, what else could anyone ask for?

FOR LADY GAGA EVERY DAY IS A CATWALK

I'm never sure whether if Lady Gaga is a couture genius or fashion faux pas. Gaga will always leave you guessing as to what she will do next. People think she's a fashion genius, even though that's sometimes extremely questionable..

One night she skipped the pants, a sport jacket and double shades (or was the second part just small Mickey Mouse ears)--the whole outfit was black and accompanied by lace-up booties. If only she would have clicked on the Jildor page and bought some ultra-hip Steven by Steve Madden black Huntley leather boots with the fancy side stitching. Her outfit would have really been slamming--if you're going to go for it, go all the way, and don't wear just any old booties.
And her bustier and jacket with extremely high shoulders that was made of disco balls that she sported at her Radio City Music Hall concert was a disaster--no shoes could save that ensemble. And those 80s Pet Shop Boy-esque glasses made it an even bigger fashion no-no.
Red carpet watching has become a sport when Lady G is involved--people love to watch her and guess what the next outfit could be. Of course, no one ever gets it right. Not even G herself.

SAG AWARDS’ FASHION WINNERS & LOSERS

The SAG Awards are one of the better award shows. Why? Because the winners are chosen by their peers in the industry, plus it a very relaxed atmosphere with fun and flirty dress from the men and the women. Of course, some people take it a little to far and come off looking like clowns. Penelope Cruz can do no wrong--not only is she hot but always a class act wearing a shiny black low-cut dress and 20s black satin peep-toe pumps. And although she didn't choose the Stuart Weitzman Avalon in Black Glitter, they would have matched her dress perfectly with their shiny brilliance. Marion Cotillard, the stunning French actress who so brilliantly played Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose, was a fashion blunder. Her off-the-shoulder white sequined dress with a feather trim hem was too over-the-top. And pairing it with hooker-esque oh so chunky platform shoes really took her look into outer space. Perhaps, she should have worn something more delicate like the Pella Moda Intrigue in gold leather--this refined shoe has a snakeskin upper and is something people will be talking about (and in a good way). Other fashion winners were Tina Fey's bright purple satin dress (great color for her), Kate Hudson's white futuristic Star Trek gown, and Holly Hunter's sophisticated black crepe gown.
