Check Your Closet to Make You’re Shoe-Ready This Winter

Cold season is coming

Are you ready for winter? Sure, you've moved your parkas to the front of the closet and might have even dug out your cold-weather jammies (depending on where you live). But the most important thing to finish off any fashionista's outfit is the of course, a matching pair of shoes. Although there are some fashion trends that are clearly emerging, it seems like anything goes with women's winter shoes--it's all about how you flaunt them.

Fashion Shoes for the Coming Winter

Black Jeffrey Campbell Vee Ankle Bootie The "it" shoe for winter is definitely the high heel bootie (also known as the ankle bootie or short boots) and is best paired with shirts (long or short) or pants. High heel booties come in suede, leather, patents, crocs (and other pseudo animal textures) and metallics and can get highly stylized with studs, lace and fur trim or lining. Vera Wang and Lucky Brand have some kick-ass, motorcycle boots in black leather with buckles. Frye also lets loose a low cowboy boot that is quite eye-catching.

Other key trends in winter shoes are cutouts--they can be masculine or feminine, are great for nighttime fun and come in a variety of styles, including stilettos, pumps, lace-ups and platforms. Cutouts are very high fashion and look best when paired with pants, short skirts or anything that doesn't cover them up--these shoes need to be seen. Before sporting these shoes, check the weather--if it's extremely cold, snowing or raining, you'll want to show off something else like boots or other closed-toed shoes.

Lace-up oxfords are making a comeback this winter. These boots can be short ankle booties or tall to the knee with laces or cutouts in leather, suede or faux crocs. Theory has an amazing patent leather oxford in black that everyone just has to have.

Thigh-high and knee-high boots in a flat or high heel are also a sure thing this winter and all over the catwalks. This standout, rock star look will definitely get you noticed and is best paired with short skirts or dresses for maximum double takes of passersby. Very popular is the scrunched look. Michael Kors has many styles, including riding boots with studs and buckles.

You've probably got some pumps left at the front of your closet from the summer and they can be an excellent choice for winter shoes. Platforms and stilettos top the list and can be adorned with crystals. One stand out look is the shoe and strap being two different colors or materials (like suede and faux croc)--Steve by Steve Madden has some great looks in this style.

And lastly, ballet flats are here to stay. To make them more winter-friendly, pair them with tights or leggings. Suede, leather, metallic, multi-colored fabrics and animal prints like leopard are the ones to get. Winter is also bringing a lot more ornate styles. Tory Burch has ballet flats in a variety of colors with gold emblems, studs and fabric tie detailing--people will be asking you where you got those, for sure.

Jildor has you covered for all your shoe needs this winter in all the hot styles--flats or heels in a variety of colors and materials that will keep you toasty warm and always in style.
